Bangalow, August 3, 2016...
The Shed is a member of the Australian Men’s Shed Association which is focused on the health and wellbeing of its community of all ages. It officially officially opened its doors on on Wednesday August 3, 2016 and has since been the home of some of Bangalow’s most memorable and historic community events. With its participation in the Bangalow Markets, Bangalow Billycart Race, its now famous Plant and Flower Sales, among so many others, The Shed is deeply embedded (and committed) to the community at large.
At the Shed, men and women from all walks of life gather for the purpose of building. Building community, building relationships and on most days, building birdhouses, toys and furniture enjoyed by everyone.
What we believe
- Community heals. Connection and belonging are fundamental human needs.
- Strength takes many forms. Vulnerability, asking for help, and showing up are all acts of courage.
- Everyone deserves support. Regardless of background, age, or circumstance, all are welcome here.
A welcoming and safe space for people to practice physical, social, and emotional well-being.
Our programs
From the ground...up.
Our flagship programs of woodworking, horticulture and recreation bring our community together weekly for facilitated peer support and empowerment. In a judgment-free, casual environment, we share our experiences, challenges, and victories.
Skills and workshops
From woodworking to mindfulness, our hands-on workshops provide opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, and connect with others. Working with our hands while talking through our challenges creates powerful healing.
Outreach
We're committed to reaching the next generation. Many of our programs provide mentorship, emotional literacy training, and healthy coping strategies helping to navigate the challenges of growing up.
The Shed Community Pantry
Our Pantry is accessible to the community 24/7. Please consider donating non-perishable items and toiletries to help support those in need.
